SUPERLASIK- Enhance Your Vision; Safer Than LASIK
Things are moving forward and new and advanced procedures are being developed for those who originally could not receive the standard Lasik procedure. Dr. Khanna has introduced a brand new procedure called "Super Lasik" a new, safer and more stable procedure that has now been created for those who have thin or abnormal corneas. What is great about this new procedure is the effects are more precise and long term. This procedure is a culmination of the merger of benefits of both PRK and LASIK. To accomplish this cutting edge surgery, Dr Khanna uses a new FDA approved instrument called a Epikeratome. This instrument raises an approximately 50 micron flap (thinner than even an Intralase). Laser surface ablation using the latest generation of LASERS is than done. Like in LASIK the flap is riposted back. A bandage lens is than placed over the eye. This is a safer method of visual correction. There is no distortion of the architecture of the cornea. So if the cornea has a young's modulus which is low, or is thin or asymmetric this method is safer. Young's modulus= stress/strain Anyone over the age of eighteen can benefit from corrective vision surgery. The investment pays for itself. What's really exciting is that Superlasik can even be done on patients who have thin corneas and were not candidates for LASIK. Its also safer since minimal trauma is done to the cornea. Patients leave with a new completeness and clarity with life because really, how we see things affects our total outlook on life. We have been impressed by the quick recovery following this new procedure. It has even been better than we anticipated. Most of our patients are able to drive the next day and some even return to work. People leave feeling rejuvenated and young, and in reality who wouldn't want that? What has been exciting is that this technology is even safer than Intralase or the all laser LASIK. The flap is more consistent and thinner than what the Intralase can fashion. Can a Rose have no thorns? Superlasik may not be a panacea for all. If a patient has keratoconus or Pellucid marginal degeneration or other corneal disease than this procedure is not for them. Immunological disease and catracts may also preclude people. For more info visit www.Khannainstitute.com Dr. Khanna, a certified Master of Surgery, specializes in only the most advanced Lasik procedures such as laser wavefront, advanced surface, multi focal lenses, refractive lens exchange and refractive cataract. He is a current member of the UCLA faculty, where he shares his surgical skills and expertise in the safest and most effective forms of refractive surgery with a new generation of ophthalmic surgeons. He is also an active member of the top ophthalmology organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive. With his extensive experience comes his need to make sure his patients benefit in every way possible from their procedures. Before surgery one will have pre-op consultations in which he will measure the cornea and dilate the eyes so that he can determine what procedure is right for that particular individual. With this dedication and patience comes the patient's reward; a new and refreshing persp

Sinusitis: Sinus Infection Deals a Corporate KO Sinusitis and Sinus Infection Starts with a Little Sniffle Propulsid Litigation Lawyer Says: Unnecessary Drug Killed 80 People Propulsid was a popular nighttime heartburn drug before it was pulled in the market in March of 2000. It was linked to dozens of fatal heart rhythm abnormalities. A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) document associated the drug with 341 reports of heart rhythm abnormalities and 80 reported deaths. The FDA also acknowledges that only a small fraction of problems with a drug are ever reported. Lipitor Lawyer: Statin Drugs Cause Muscle Damage in 98% Doctors have been encouraged to prescribe the cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins quite liberally. Patients who suffer heart attacks often have elevated levels of cholesterol, so statins like Lipitor are prescribed to lower the cholesterol. There have been no conclusive studies to prove the full effectiveness of these drugs, however, and some doctors worry that reducing cholesterol simply takes away the warning signs of heart disease. The drug companies also claim that statin drugs have a low, nearly nonexistent incidence of side effects. These claims are based on trials of the drug on a carefully screened group of people, hardly a representative selection of the general public. Considering the rigorous selection process for drug trials, it is hardly a surprise that 51% of prescription drugs found to have serious adverse side effects not detected prior to FDA approval. Generic Medicines Generic Drugs Prevent Foot Problems When Walking Americans are on the go. According to a NSGA Survey, 71 million American adults are exercise walkers, making walking the top sport in the United States. Taking steps daily to improve health will help with America's obesity epidemic. Sixty five percent of Americans are overweight, which is linked to diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and some types of cancer. Walking an extra 2000 steps a day is equivalent to walking a distance of 1 mile and to burning 100 calories. Burning an extra 100 calories a day is equivalent to losing about 10 pounds in a year. Melatonin, Sleep Enhancement, and ADHD Overview Melatonin is a natural hormone, which is produced and secreted by the pineal gland. Melatonin plays an important role in the regulation of many hormones in the body. Among its key roles, melatonin controls the body's circadian rhythm, an internal 24-hour time-keeping system that controls when we fall asleep and when we wake up. Modern Medicine Has Extended Life - BUT 9 Out of 10 People Say Its a Miserable Extension! Sit down in a quiet place alone and take a minute to notice how you really feel inside and out? Would you consider yourself in good health or living a slow death you call life? As you sit quietly observing yourself, pay attention to the signs and symptoms of your body. Notice the things you've been ignoring such as a low-grade headache that rarely ceases, aching joints, slightly blurred vision, a bulging stomach, sagging chin, no zest for life or maybe a definite feeling of being bone tired and constantly in pain somewhere. Cholesterol Treatments Options: Statins Satins are pharmacuetical drugs that work by restricting the enzyme HMG CoA reductase. This is an enzyme which regulates how fast a rate cholesterol is produced in the body. By slowing down production of this enzyme, statins are able to lower LDL cholesterol levels more efficiently than many of the other cholesterol drugs on the market. The Trouble with Tranqs There's a whole group of drugs out there called benzodiazepines. They are tranquillisers, or sedatives. They include such well-known names as Valium (diazepam), Ativan (lorazepam), Librium (chlordiazepoxide), Tranxene (clorazepate), Paxipam (halazepam), Centrax or Verstran (prazepam), Klonopin (clonazepam), Dalmane (flurazepam), Serax (oxazepam), Restoril (temazepam), Xanax (alprazolam), and Halcion (triazolam). Drugs like Librium and Valium have been around for a while, others such as Xanax are relative newcomers. Interestingly, whenever it appears, the newcomer is always hailed as a wonder drug as it becomes available for prescrption, until, 10 or 20 years later, the problems start to appear with those who were the first to be 'saved' from their pain by this miracle of pharmacological engineering. Is It Better Than Intravenous Chelation? Intravenous Chelation was the most common practice until a few years back; however, with the introduction of oral chelation it became the preferred choice of most patients and doctors. There were a number of contributing factors to this shift of choice, the prime aspect being the cost factor. Though intravenous chelation would not cost you a fortune, still the cost will be way above the price of Oral Chelation. This initiated the use of oral chelation among the customers who were using intravenous chelation. Once they started using it on a regular basis the other benefits of oral chelation became more evident. Lunesta Dependence Lunesta is a newly released sleeping pill.
