Do You Plot With Your Character In MindNick Vernon Creative Writing Tips – You are plotting the story. You write down what will happen, what problems will arise, what obstacles you will place so the character won’t reach his goals immediately, what he’s going to do to overcome these problems etc… So all these things will be happening to your character since it’s his story we are telling. Does it make sense then to have your character in mind as you plot these things It does. Because it will depend, based on the type of person he is, how he will face these problems, what he will feel, what he will think, what he will do. Different types of personalities make up our world. Some people worry too much, so whatever problems come along, they will worry with the same intensity. Other people view the lighter side of life. Minor problems do not affect them as largely as major problems. To some challengers are welcome - they thrive on them. To others, challengers are viewed with fear and uncertainty. As you’re plotting the events of your story they have to correspond with the type of personality your character possesses. What happens when you plot without thinking of your character He will act ‘out of character.’ He will do, say, think, feel things that don’t suit his personality. For instance… If your character is a worrier and you place him in a situation where he doesn’t worry, then that’s making him act according to how you want him to act in your plot. You’re manipulating him to suit your plot - You’re not writing with his personality in mind. As you plot the events in the story, simultaneously build your character. Cross-reference what you have written about your character and the situation he is in. Do they correspond

The Myths Of Writing: Have You Bought Into These There is an image most people carry of the artist think Van Goughs self-portrait, the one with his ear bandaged, working in solitude in a barren garret in a dark corner of the city. Everyday is a struggle. He continually walks between moments of brilliance and moments of insanity. Its a romantic image, I suppose. Built around the belief that an artist must suffer for his art. PublishAmerica - Publishing Parasites I have to admit to being readily impressed by company names.Maybe its an age thing. You see, I was around when we had nationalised industries here in Britain, you know, British Railways, British Gas, British Steel, British Road Services, etc., etc. Those companies may have been over-staffed and under-efficient but you always knew you could trust them, and a product marked "Made in Britain" had class - in those days. Even after they became privatised the word "British" in a company name still, in my subconscious at least, gave that firm a stamp of approval. Those were the heady days when we had some traditional industries and workers could rely upon union protection to prevent their jobs being shipped out to third world countries. 5 Reasons People Like Technology White Papers A good white paper is a paper that makes you look good. Publish Anything: The Saga of a PublishAmerica Author My story is that an author who’d done online writing for such dot gones as Themestream, Written By Me, and The Vines, someone trying hard to have fiction, poetry and nonfiction in print for real, recommended PublishAmerica. She claimed it was a traditional book publisher. I was struck with their slogan, “We treat writers the old fashioned way – we pay them.” Wasn’t that what publishers were supposed to do Is the Formula of Professor of Terror, a Hoax The most remarkable thing I found in Orientalism, the reputed revolutionary text by Edward Said -- more famously dubbed as the ‘Professor of Terror’ since 1999 by the rightwing American magazine Commentary – is the point where he talks of the power-relationship of the knowledge of the Orient with the socio-political and ‘culturally hegemonic imperial projects’ of the West. Said at first in his book distinguishes between two types of knowledge – ‘true’ and ‘political’. He points out the consensus working in academia the idea that ‘true’ knowledge is non-political. Rather he argues that the supposedly apolitical scholarly works we involved in ‘interest’ and geo-political power relation, and hence the texts are un-detachable from power relation of political, cultural, intellectual, and moral domains. The Writing Club Typically when falling asleep in bed at night great thoughts enter the mind, long stringed and meaningful sentences trip over each other to receive attention at the front of the brain alongside all the brilliant findings, results, meanings that speak volumes and hard hitting phrases that are just the ticket to open the door to success.
