Beer and The Commodities Market
Most branded products and agricultural products are not commodities. However we will see the future as Cargill, Petroseed, Genetseed will have patented superior seeds which grow into corn, mustard seed, wheat, and other agricultural products which will have a brand name. There will be certain types of specialty corn which can be used for biofuels and will need to be separated from the regular corn as a separate commodity. Hops and Barley work the same way. Some companies like Sunkist have attempted to brand name a commodity in order to get higher price. Some trade associations and some co-ops do the same thing. However, in the end something only worth what someone will pay. Starbucks with older plantations has excess capacity and therefore sells his excess capacity on the commodities market, or in an Intranet system on their web site for e-secured credit card consumers. Coffee actually keeps for longer than other types of commodities that are agricultural based. Therefore they can hedge their bets by stockpiling, roasting, or bagging the excess into little containers for later sale. Similar to the US Military stockpiling fuel so they will not run out. Farmers often stockpile as well, putting their excess into silos. Many times fear of economic devaluation will change the price someone is willing to pay now for a contract to receive commodities and future. For instance a perceived economic slowdown may cause mustard seed to be worth less. Sometimes an economic slowdown may cause contract prices to go up. For instance in economics low times people buy more beer, therefore Hops and barley will be worth more so more beer can be produced, for all those people who lost jobs, sit at home, and watch the Jerry Springer show. So if you drink beer you are playing the commodities market from the back end while you sit on it? Think about it? Overcoming Red Wine Spills Red wine spills can be a disaster whether they occur in your home or onboard your $43 million executive jet as members of our corporate flight attendant web community are quick to point out. Please read on to find out what we discovered: The Curious History Of Wine Consumption In America The history of wine consumption in America has been frought with starts, stops, and inconsistencies. The American population has always had a love-hate relationship with alcohol. Historic prohibitionist attitudes amongst much of the American population have blurred the line between moderate wine consumption and detrimental alcoholism. As a result, regular, moderate consumption of wine by the American public continues to face ideological and legal impediments. Barbera Wine Barbera is a wine grape variety from Monferrato in Piemonte, Italy. Babera produces an intense red wine with deep color, low tannins and high acid and is used in California to provide "backbone" for so-called "jug wines". Chardonnay Wine Chardonnay is the world's most popular white wine grape. Chardonnay wine's homeland is the Burgundy region of France, where it produces sublime, complex Chardonnay table wines (in Champagne and elsewhere it provides the base for many of the world's best sparkling wines), but it also flourishes in California, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and South Africa. Riesling Wine The most famous cool climates for Riesling wine are in Germany, Austria, and the Alsace region of France. In these places, Riesling wine can be dazzling, with intense mineral and peach flavors and breathtaking clarity and transparency. Similarly, the cool vineyards of upper New York state, Washington, Ontario, British Columbia, and New Zealand can produce elegant Riesling wine. Gewurztraminer Wine Gewurztraminer is an excellent and unique grape variety that is capable of producing some of the world's greatest and most memorable Gewurztraminer wine. Gewurztraminer wine has inspired flavor comparisons to lychee, rosewater, honeysuckle, mango, papaya, coconut, apricot, peach, and Jamaican allspice. To say that Gewurztraminer wine is deeply flavored and complex would be one of wine's biggest understatements. Uses of Mirror Tinted Contact Lenses Mirror tinted contact lenses have become a topic of interest among many Americans. This is because the market for crazy contact lenses has continued to grow and be popular, so, as a result, contact companies are continually faced with making the next best thing. What is the next best thing you might ask? Mirror tinted contact lenses of course. Of course a significant amount of research and technology will be used in creating these contacts, however where there is demand the contact companies will be sure to supply. The technology for mirror tinted contact lenses would have to be similar to a one way mirror. That is, the contact reflects on side and allowss the wearer to see through the other side. Certainly this is not an easy creation, but definitely a unique and fun one. Carignane Wine The Carignane grape variety is one of the most widely planted grapes in the world. It's popularity stems from the high crop yeilds that it produces as well as the characteristics that it can bring to a wine. Wine made from Carignane usually has red-fruit characteristics, deep violet and purple color, strong tannin structure and high levels of alcohol content. It is sometimes peppery like Syrah. These characteristics have made it very popular as a blending agent in the vast quantities of local table wines (jug wines) that are consumed around the world. It often provides the 'backbone' of these wines and is blended with other grape varieties that bring additonal flavor characteristics. Chablis Wine Chablis is thought to have originated in northern Spain and grows well in a 'Mediterranean' climate. As a result, it is widely grown in many of the countries that border the Mediterranean Sea including France, Italy, Spain, and Algeria. Chablis is the most widely planted grape in France. It has also found a home in almost every other wine producing country around the world. The Ten Most Important Wine Label Terms For the average wine consumer, there is a plethora of intimidation associated with wine buying. This is a feeling that is most often associated with not understanding wine labels. New world wines tend to make it easier - wines bottled in Australia, South America and the United States are often more direct in their presentation of the type of wine and the name of the vineyard. On the other hand, old world wine labels like those from France, Italy, Spain and Germany carry with them loads of classifications, harvest-types, town names, vineyard titles and producer idiosyncrasies - all in a foreign language. While these labels embody the wonderfully classic aesthetic associated with a good looking wine label, they almost always cause a cocking of the head for the average wine buyer. How Sparkling Wine is Made There are three methods that may be used to make sparkling wine. These methods are: the Transfer Method, Charmat Bulk process and Methode Champenoise. Methode Champenoise is the most labor-intensive and costly of these. Pairing Beer With Food Pairing beer with the fine cuisine has recently come to the attention of many eating establishments as they try to cater to the 90's micro-brew crowd. No longer is wine considered the only drink fit for a succulent entree. You too can bring this art form into your own home with a few simple tips. Who Made the First Wine Anyway? Although details are understandably sketchy, it is believed that, around 6000 BC, grapes were being grown and wine was being made in Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq). Australian Wines Australia's wine industry has boomed in the past ten years. Employers have had to triple their staff numbers to cope with the demand for Aussie wine. Considering the lower average national population of Australia, compared to say the United States or even South Africa, 30,000 (2001) workers is pretty high.
